Dr. David Morafka Died Tuesday Jaunaury 13, 2004, Night At His Home After A
Long Struggle With Pancreatric Cancer.
Dr. David Morafka died Tuesday Jaunaury 13, 2004, night at his home after a
long struggle with pancreatric cancer Dr. Morafka made remarkable
contributions to western herpetology and was especially known for his path
finding studies on the conservation of the Bolson tortoise, the biology of
desert tortoise hatchlings and neonates, and his work on the Panamint
alligator lizard. He was a scientist of immense integrity and will be
greatly missed.
Dr. Morafka’s wife Sylvia has made a request for no flowers, but for
donations to be made to the Democratic Party.
Kristin Berry plans a Celebration of Life in Dr. Morafka's honor at the
Desert Tortoise Council Symposium in February.
